This box is absolutely terrific! It's not a common find for such a special item. In the 1930's This box came with a place setting of Oneida Community Silver. It made for a lovely presentation to someone special or just to store your good pieces in. Just look at the lovely Art Deco design on the lid (picture 2)!
Today when we find these we tend to think that they may have been cigarette boxes or small jewelry boxes....and of course they work well for either one!
The dark part of the box is bakelite. I tested it with Simichrome and it definitely test positive. The lid does not test positive.
The box measures 6.75 inches in length x 3.25 inches wide x 1.5 inches high.
Condition: Excellent. There are no chips or cracks. No major scratches. No discoloration. The hinged lid opens and closes easily. Truly a wonderful piece!
