This victorian era locket is quite nice. The woman carved in the cameo has very fine facial features. Her wavy hair has been pulled back into a bun and adorned with a flower. Her shawl collar is wide and is worn off the shoulders.
Prongs carefully hold the cameo in place on the locket.
There is no indication as to the metal content. However I believe this is at least - at the minumum - 14K gold. I have not tested it....so please remember you are not buying for gold content. I believe the cameo is shell.
The locket opens and closes smoothly. There is room inside for 1 picture.
The locket measures 1 5/8 inches long x 1.35 inches wide.
When I found this at a local estate there was no chain. It was the locket only. I've since added a chain. It is a contemporary chain. It is twisted rope and is 14K Italian Yellow Gold. It looks good with the locket even with the brighter color.
